Goddess Saraswathy communicates to Sri Venkatanatha (II)

Excerpts from Sri Raghavendra Vijaya written by Sri Narayanacharya and translated to English by Sri G.B. Joshi.

Vijayendra Tirtha of incomparable wealth gave to me jewel box in the form of Tattvamanikya Peta. He gave me Nyaayamukta for the necklace. Whatever is fixed as the ornament of a woman, is given to me in the form of some significant work.

Sri Sudheendra Thirtha brought me to the stage of discussion through his commentary on Tarka Taandava with the desire that I Saraswati should give him victory over his opponents who were great pundits in discussion daily in the assembly of the king.

His commentary on the second skanda of Bhagavata and it’s eleventh, which is said to be very difficult to understand was a gem in my diadem. Sudheendra’s drama ‘Subhadra Parinayam’ was my playground and was written in an easy style of prose with few compounds.

When the creeper Chandrika entirely dependent on Sudha, which is as it were my life breath, has its roots cut, you should make their roots safe by writing learned gloss on both Sudha and Chandrika. Then you are a righteous man, if not you cannot be a righteous man, then where can righteousness be seen?

Oh! Venkatarya kindly note that I am going to stay with your guru only for two years more. No one is able to write a gloss on Sudha and Chandrika nor anybody in future is able to do that work in the assembly of the learned.
