An active and yet, subtle and silent Pontiff

Sri Vasudhendra tirtha was the sixth pontiff of the mutt after Sri Raghavendra Tirtha. He was given the peeta by Sri Vadeendra Tirtha in 1750. He had his education under Sri Vadeendra Tirtha and after pontification spent all his time in Mantralaya Mutt engaged in japas and discourses. He is credited for initiating documentation of the gift of titles of the lands parted by Masood Khan to Sri Raghavendra Tirtha. Further the Manyass at kiritigari acquired by the British was successfully brought back to the fold by this pontiff.

He was an expert of all the four vedas. His interesting works happens to be ‘Guru Stotra Dandaka’ which salutes to all the Gurus of the parampara from Sri Madhvacharya to Sri Sri Vadeendra Tirtha. His other works include Tippani to Tantrasara Sangraha, a commentary on Guru Guna Stavana.

He handed over the Peeta to Sri Varadendra tirtha in 1761. The Brindhavana of Sri Vasudendhra tirtha is on the bank of River Tungabhadra at Kenchanegudda, Siriguppa taluk, Bellary District. A Hanuman statue is consecrated by Sri Varadendra Tirtha opposite to the Brindavana. This statue of Lord Hanuman is decorated with ornaments and he is holding  a Shivalinga in his right hand.

This makes the Brindavana more interesting.
