Excerpts from Sri Raghavendra Vijaya written by Sri Narayanacharya and translated to English by Sri G.B. Joshi.
Vedavyasa has appointed me to stay with those who perform the worship of Mula Ramadeva. It is also clear that the best of ascetics alone can perform the worship of Shri Rama. Therefore, I have been present with them every day.
Accept holy orders so that you may be the Lord of the kingdom of lores of Vedanta. If not the system of Vaishnava, Siddhanta along with discussions in Vedic lores would come to an end.
In the first instance, not only the whole group of syllogistic arguments would lose the foundations of sutras but also the books that treat the Vedanta systems, would have their thread cut-off. For they will have no one to protect them and being gnawed by the mice, will have no threads to keep the pages together.
The sessions of discussions dealing with the supremacy of Vishnu in the Kings assembly will henceforward deal with the supremacy of Shakti, Bhanu Subrahmanya, Parvathi’s son Shanmukha, Ganesh or Indra or Shiva or any other deity.
In all parts of the country, the Vedic Pathshala which is found to be seen constantly reciting hymns from Vedas, will be turned into a prison house for the deceitful jackals to howl at all times.
If you do not take my holy orders, books in India having correct reading will be eaten up by moths so that the pages are destroyed like, the ranges of mountains whose wings are cut by the Thunderbolt of Indira.
