Guru Guna Sthavana is a devotional composition made by Sri Vadheendra Tirtharu in praise and honor of Sri Raghavendra Tirtharu. The poet Sri Vadheendra Tirtharu was the fifth pontiff of the mutt after Rayaru. He was also the great grandson of Sri Raghavendra Tirtharu. It is said he was two years old when Rayaru entered Brindavana.
The composition with 36 Slokas enumerates the works of Rayaru. In his lifetime, the poet sings this composition in front of Sri Raghavendra Swamy Brindavana at Mantralaya with utmost devotion and expects the feedback of Rayaru. To his pleasant surprise, it is said, he sees the Brindavana shaking expressing his nod. A few Dasas and devotees are also said to have witnessed this amazing event. This indeed was a satisfying experience for the poet.
Sri Vadheendra Tirtharu remained the Pontiff of the mutt from 1728 -1750 and his Brindavana can be seen just next to Rayaru’s Brindavana. This in itself is an honor and matter of extreme privilege, for the poet. Also, it is said, Dewan Venkanna originally did the Brindavana of the poet for Rayaru but Rayaru reserved it for him.
