Sri Raghavendra Teertharu is seen as one of the greatest saints in this Kaliyuga. His earlier birth as Sri Vyasaraja Teertha, Sri Bahalikaraja and Sri Prahalladaraja is undisputed as it is expressed by the divine personalities, in various citations. There is an incident, which makes it evident that Sri Prahalada raja and Sri Raghavendra Teertharu were the same soul.
After Nawab Masood Khans folly and seeking pardon with Rayaru, he offers a large portion of land to the Saint. Rayaru opts Manchale, a barren and un-fertile land. The nawab and Deewan Venkanna try to persuade Rayaru to take better and fertile lands but the Saint settles down with Manchale. The deewan on asking Rayaru the reason for his preference of Manchale, ttakes Venkanna to a point and instructs him to dig the place. To their surprise, they find a sacred stone and showing this Rayaru, says that he has performed several Yagnas on this stone in Kritha Yuga as Prahalada raja and hence, he has decided on Manchale. Furthe,r he says he would get into Yoga Nidra sitting on this stone.
There are only a few instances of the divine personas, revealing their identities of previous births. This revelation made by Sri Raghavendra adds great credence and substantiates the point.
