Sri Raghavendra Teertharu visits Pandarapur Kshetra during 1660s and spends his time in the famous Sri Rukmini Panduranga Temple. Rayaru wishes to perform a music Seva to the lord and lifts his Veena to play. Just before he starts, he hears a melodious music from the string instrument played by none other than sage Narada. Overwhelmed with joy, Rayaru then plays his Veena to the lord of music. It was a divine treat for Rayaru having seen Sage Narada, heard his music and played music to the Lord Panduranga.
Guru Samarth Ramdas advised Chhatrapati Shivaji Shivaji to meet Sri Raghavendra Teertharu during his stay at the Pandaarpur Temple. Accordingly, Shivaji with his wife came in disguise and sought the blessings of Rayaru. It is believed, Rayaru told him ‘You are fighting to protect dharma with Astras and we the saints are fighting to protect dharma with shastras’ and may dharma reside in you forever. Chhatrapati Shivaji leaves Pandarapur and continues his journey fighting battles and conquering foes.
Sri Raghavendra Teertharu besides his routine spends his time at Panduranga temple playing his Veena singing songs and writing commentaries on scriptures. He then proceeds to Bijapur enroute Kolhapur.
