Sri Raghavendra Thirtharu visited several pilgrim destinations of Vaishnava importance. On one occasion, he visited Srirangapatna on the invitation of the then-King Doddadevaraja Wodeyar (1627-1673). The King was God fearing, respectful to saints and patronised all of them. His ancestors had the privilege of honouring Sri Vibudhendra Thirtharu, the popular Saint of the Madhwa Lineage. Further, the Madhwa Saint Sri Vyasaraja Thirtharu also had received the hospitalities from these dynasty Kings.

At the instance of the King, Rayaru takes up the Chaturmasa Vratha the and stays at Srirangapatna temple for four months. He enjoys the fulfilling experience of bathing in River Cauvery, worship of the huge Lord Ranganatha Idol, Lord Moola Rama Pooja, Discourses etc. He used to give audience to the King several times and it is said Rayaru using his powers thwarted attacks on Mysore by neighbouring Kings filled with jealousy. On completion of the Chaturmasa vratha the King thanks Rayaru for being his guest seeks his blessings and honours Rayaru with a gift of two Villages – Mallur and Devarajapura.

The King witnessed true Sainthood in Sri Raghavendra Thirtharu to magnanimously gift these villages.
