The Brindavana of Sri Raghavendra Tirtharu at Mantralaya is sculpted using hard black rock. It is called Krishna Shila, as it is dark in colour. Rayaru makes a specific selection of this rock stone for his Brindavana for a unique and interesting reason. He says the rock at Madhavaram, the neighboring village of Manchale, is very sacred. Lord Rama had sat on this rock during Aranyavasa in Tretha Yuga. Rayaru all the more finds this rock auspicious as Lord Rama is the Aradhya Devatha of his mutt and he has performed Puja to Lord Moola Rama for several decades.
Feeling blessed to use this sacred rock, Rayaru instructs Venkanna the Dewan of Adoni, to sculpt a Brindavana for him. Dewan Venkanna who had his fortunes changed by the grace of Rayaru takes it up with highest obeisance. He gets the inputs, design and detailing of the Brindavana, puts the best of the sculptors and makes a magnificent Brindavana in the Vijayanagar style of architecture. This masterpiece, brought out would be an EkaShila Brindavana meaning, it is carved out from a single rock. The Brindavana has carvings of Lord Rama, Lord Narasimha, Lord Krishna and Lord VedaVyasa meticulously done on east, south, west and north sides of the Brindavana respectively.
Selecting Manchale on the banks of the sacred Tungabhadra with this auspicious Brindavana Sri Raghavendra Tirtharu made it his final abode for his YogaNidra.
