Sri Vyasa Tatvagna Teerthar, considered an accomplished scholar of the 18th C, was based in the Gadwal kingdom. He had an in-depth learning of Nyaya Sudha, and always felt that he is an authority on the subject, and that, there was none to match his competency. He was of the firm opinion that his inferences are conclusive. He also had a habit to dismiss and disapprove the commentaries of other scholars including that of Sri Venkatanatha’s works – Sudha Parimala. He had numerous pupils studying Madhwa philosophy under him. In one of the interactive sessions with the students, there was an intriguing question raised by a student on an aspect of Nyaya Sudha. The master gave his best answer though not convincing. He left off the class and started pondering over the subject. The guilt started creeping into his mind unable to deliver the proper answer. He remained restless throughout with a disturbed sleep.
In early hours of dawn, the master had a pleasant surprise to see Rayaru appearing in his dream to give a clear point of reference in Sudha Parimala that would totally clarify his doubt. He woke up and checked the material referred by Rayaru and was amazed to see the answer in Sudha Parimala. Having sought the guidance from Rayaru, he joyfully shared the experience with his students and hailed Guru Raghavendra.
The Holy Brindavana of Sri Vyasa Tatvagna Teertharu is located in Veni Somapura near Gadwal.
