After Sri Sudheendra Tirtharu hands over the reigns of the mutt to Sri Raghavendra Tirtharu, one Sri Yadhavendra Tirtharu comes to the mutt. It is said, Sri Yadhavendra Tirtharu was given the Sanyasa by Sri Sudheendra Tirtharu before Sri Raghavendra Tirtharu. On arrival of Sri Yadhavendra Tirtharu a group of his disciples argued that their Guru should be the Head and Pontiff of the mutt. They insisted Rayaru should handover the reigns of the mutt to Sri Yadhavendra Tirtharu as he was given the Sanyasa first. This complaint reached the King of Tanjore and he was puzzled and requested both the Saints to appear in his court.
Interestingly both the saints were silent but their followers were doing the arguments. It is said, Rayaru candidly expressed his opinion and willingness to hand over the reigns to his senior Sri Yadhavendra Tirtharu, as he was senior to him. Sri Yadhavendra Tirtharu was shocked seeing the frank expressions of Rayaru having no love for power and wealth; this indeed was a great virtue in Rayaru, which impressed the senior saint. Sri Yadhavendra Tirtharu replies that the wish of his guru Sri Sudheendra Tirtharu to appoint Rayaru was his last wish and also the final wish. Further the name Sri Raghavendra means Lord Rama, who remains the king and the ruler. While Sri Yadhavendra means Lord Krishna who was never a King and ruler. He admires Sri Raghavendra Tirtharu and requests him to continue his role.
Two Saints too Great Indeed!
